Clearway opens for cyclists using Mullingar’s roads

The official opening of the latest phase of the town’s new cycleways route on the Royal Canal between Harbour Bridge and the Dublin Bridge as part of Mullingar’s Active Travel Project took place on Friday week, providing designated tow paths along the Royal Canal ready for cycling and walking.

Funding of €230,000 from the Department of Transport was put towards the three-year Active Travel Project, the main aim of which is to get people out walking and cycling around Mullingar, with Westmeath County Council seeking to deliver a longterm strategy for sustainable movement in the town.
