Safety tips for walking

  • Walking is great exercise but follow our safety tips

    Start slowly, enjoy being out and about and gradually build up to the recommended 30 minutes walking a day.

  • Drink water before and after your walk.
  • Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes/trainers.
  • Loose fitted clothing is advisable for walking.
  • Use reflective armbands or hi visibility jackets
  • Choose walking routes that have good lighting, even surfaces and are not too isolated

The Golden Rules

  • Be safe
  • Be seen
  • Be street wise
  • Bring your friends along for company
  • … And most importantly… HAVE FUN!!!
